A free visual flat feet screening tool
Transform Kid’s visual tool helps parents observe heel position, foot arches and leg alignment at home. It uses illustrations and a short questionnaire to show three levels of follow-up: green, amber or red.
This free tool is a preliminary step before an in-person assessment. It cannot diagnose flat feet. If your child has pain, stiffness, difficulty walking or a clear difference between the two feet, seek advice from a qualified healthcare professional.
What are flat feet in children?
Flat feet have a low arch, so much of the sole touches the floor when standing. Arches are often less visible in young children while their feet are developing. Appearance alone does not establish a medical problem.
Consider both appearance and movement: heel and ankle position, discomfort, fatigue, frequent tripping and unusual footwear wear.
Signs worth observing
- Low or less visible arches when standing.
- Heels or ankles that appear to tilt inward.
- Feet that spread or point outward when walking or running.
- Fatigue or pain in the feet, ankles, lower legs or knees.
- Frequent tripping, difficulty balancing or reluctance to be active.
- A clear difference between feet or uneven footwear wear.
